Lake Tahoe Mountain Biking Trails—Ensure a Safe & Fun Adventure

If you are coming to El Dorado County to enjoy the breathtaking mountain bike trails here, we have some tips for you to enhance your riding experience. For a regular biker, mountain biking might not seem very intimidating, however, the challenging Lake Tahoe mountain biking trails require a different skill set altogether. It’s more than just pedaling and steering. Here are a few things that can help you ride better-

·      Use Your Weight - As bikers, we are often used to steering with handlebars. When mountain bikingin Lake Tahoe, it is better to shift your weight around for steering instead of handlebars. When you are about to take a turn, lean into the turn to allow your bike round the corner.

·     Mind the Momentum - Lake Tahoe uphill climbs take a lot of cardio and downhill section requires a lot of skill. When you are going uphill, make sure you are keeping your chest to the bars. This will allow you to shift your momentum forward. When riding downhill, keep your elbows out and shift your hips back over the back tire in an active stance. It counteracts the downhill momentum and reduces the chances of you going over the handlebars.

·       Understand the Trail -Before you go mountain biking, it’s better to know about the trail first.Make yourself familiar with the different types of soils and trail construction to avoid locking your brakes and skidding. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage and erosion. So be careful!

Mountain biking in Lake Tahoe is a wonderful experience—something that you would remember for a while. Make sure you ride smart and take proper safety measures.
